Shift Leader Training Day #4

WELCOME to Day #4 of Shift Leader training. Today will take 6 courses on the Dunkin’ U completing all your beginning management courses.

You will not be able to start your in store training until all these courses are completed.

Once you complete your Dunkin’ U classes today you will spend the remaining time on the floor beginning your Shift Leader training.

 

This picture shows you the courses you will take that are also found on the Training Grid that was on the main page.

 

 

Please do NOT take any other courses then the ones located on the Training Grid for Orientation Day. If you choose to take other courses you will not receive credit for them and will not be paid for them.

 

 

At the end of EVERY shift you will come back to this page and sign off on what you have learned for the day. We hope you cover multiple bullet point’s everyday so you are getting the repetition needed. You and your trainer will sign off and also write down a few things you did well and a few things you need to continue working on.

 

During “rush” periods you are repeating in same order your crew training, once the rush has ended you will transition into shift leader training for the remaining part of your day. Please do not veer from this!!

  • Lead team members on shifts, including assigning tasks (cleaning, line duties, opening/closing duties), providing feedback and training
    • Walk on / Walk off Shift
    • Communicate through the huddle board
    • Using one minute huddles
    • Assign primary and secondary tasks
    • Effectively coaching
  • Utilize the huddle board to effectively position the team
    • Fill out all areas of huddle board
    • Aces in Places
    • Assign primary and secondary tasks
    • Communicate huddle board items to the team
  • Know and support appropriate personnel policies, labor laws and safety procedures
    • Review all policies , laws, and procedures
    • Enforce all policies, laws, and procedures
    • Knows to coach all policies, laws , and procedures
    • Sends someone home professionally if the violate
  • Ensure all security procedures are executed (safe procedures, open/close procedures )
    • Review open/closing procedures
    • Review all safe cash handling procedures
    • Enforce all open/close procedures
    • Enforce all safe cash handling procedures
    • Knows how to fill out cash log for register and safe log
  • Transition into opening/closing duties
    • Follow transition checklist
    • Uses Flow chart
    • Communicate to on coming or outgoing manager
    • Knows what store policy is for equipment issues (POS, Music, TV, ect.)
    • Knows how and who to call for Jera issues (shortages, late delivers)
  • Make guests really happy by providing great guest service
    • Set the stage for excellent guest service
    • Talk to your guests ask them how the visit was
    • Makes regular travel paths and takes action
  • Resolve guest complaints/issues
    • Use L.A.S.T. as needed
    • Learn to recognize issues and fix them before the escalate
    • Knows how to do a refund or comp an order and document
  • Lead team members to open, transition, and close shifts

    • Jump in and out to fix bottle necks
    • As managers we always work the line through our morning rushes to ensure our teams are adhering to all policies/procedures/standards each and everyday
  • Promote sales on the shift through suggestive selling and knowledge of in-store promotions
    • Set sales goals
    • Set Suggestive sell targets with cashiers
    • Know the current window
    • Communicate to your team
  • Execute and support all food safety requirements and practice
    • Follow up on Red book execution and follow through
    • Is knowledgeable on times and temps or can get information as needed
  • Control food costs, labor, waste, and cash on the shift
    • Monitor waste
    • Set par levels or use par chart effectively
    • Cut labor if needed
    • Make sure cash handling procedures are adhered to
    • One person to register followed
    • Know various managers tasks (refunds, voids, receipt look up, tax exempt, ect.
  • Count drawers and follow proper daily cash handling procedures
    • Follow all Procedures of Dunbar register counting
    • Logs safe counts correctly
    • Know various managers tasks (refunds, voids, receipt look up, tax exempt, ect.)
